HQS plans to move to the new iWerkx competence center

In the immediate vicinity of the current location of HQS Quantum Simulations in the Technologiefabrik Karlsruhe, the iWerkx innovation center is being built on the Hoepfner Areal. HQS will also move into office space in the state-of-the-art building complex in the new year.
HQS Quantum Simulations has invested in the expansion of the HQS team through the closing of the Series A financing round, among other things, and was able to attract many talented scientists and specialists during the year. The growth means more space is needed.
The iWerkx innovation center is currently being built on the Hoepfner Areal in Karlsruhe's Oststadt district, in the immediate vicinity of HQS Quantum Simulations' previous location. The state-of-the-art building complex will primarily be home to companies with a focus on Industry 4.0. A new center is to be created that stands for the realization of progress. This is also described by the name iWerkx: the "i" stands for information technology, the "Werk" for the hard work that drives progress, and the "x" for exploring the unknown, the mysterious in the future
”At iWerkx, we want to bring together companies that are reshaping our economy by combining cutting-edge information technology with mechanical and process engineering. We are also excited about the synergy effects that can be expected from clustering on our site!" explains Dr. Friedrich Hoepfner.
In the five-story new building with a floor space of over 12800 sqm, HQS Quantum Simulations moves into an office space of just under 800 sqm on the 3rd floor.
“Our start-up is now growing out of its infancy. We plan to continue investing in qualified scientists and developers in the future, which will require us to provide more workspace. Since we also offer our team the possibility to work a lot and flexibly from home, we want to create a space for meetings, discussion, and exchange with the new office. We have already made great progress in the past in bringing quantum computers to industrial applications, but we are still faced with many complex issues that we can only solve as a team.” Says COO Dr. Iris Schwenk.
Since HQS was founded, the company's offices have been located in Karlsruhe's Oststadt district. The highly innovative environment offers many economic advantages in addition to the location close to the city center, such as the proximity to the research facilities of KIT, the university, Fraunhofer, and FZI as well as CyberForum e.V. In the founding period, the company used rooms of the Cyberlab, the startup accelerator of the CyberForum. Next, the Technologiefabrik Karlsruhe was the ideal location for the further development of the startup until today and offered many amenities and opportunities due to the infrastructure. In the iWerkx in the direct vicinity of the current location, HQS will continue to be based in the attractive environment of Karlsruhe's Oststadt. The spacious and modern design offers plenty of room for the company's further development.
The final construction measures and preparations for the move are still in full swing. However, according to the current status, the move is already planned for the beginning of next year.

HQS plant Umzug in neues Kompetenzzentrum iWerkx
In direkter Nachbarschaft des derzeitigen Standorts von HQS Quantum Simulation in der Technologiefabrik Karlsruhe, entsteht auf dem Hoepfner Areal das Innovationszentrum iWerkx. Auch HQS wird im neuen Jahr Büroräume in dem hochmodernen Gebäudekomplex beziehen.
HQS Quantum Simulations hat durch den Abschluss der Series-A-Finanzierungsrunde unter anderem in den Ausbau des HQS-Teams investiert und konnte viele talentierte Wissenschaftler und Fachkräfte im Laufe des Jahres gewinnen. Durch den Zuwachs wird mehr Platz benötigt.
Auf dem Hoepfner Areal in der Karlsruher Oststadt, in direkter Nachbarschaft des bisherigen Standorts von HQS Quantum Simulations, entsteht derzeit das Innovationszentrum iWerkx. In dem hochmodernen Gebäudekomplex werden vor allem Unternehmen mit Schwerpunkt der Industrie 4.0 ansässig. Es soll ein neues Zentrum entstehen, das für die Realisierung des Fortschritts steht. Dies beschreibt auch der Name iWerkx: das „i“ steht für Informationstechnologie, das „Werk“ für die harte Arbeit, die den Fortschritt antreibt, und das „x“ für das Erforschen des Unbekannten, das Geheimnisvolle in der Zukunft
„Im iWerkx wollen wir Firmen zusammenführen, die durch die Verknüpfung modernster Informationstechnologie mit Maschinenbau und Prozesstechnik unsere Wirtschaft neugestalten. Wir freuen uns auch über die Synergieeffekte, die durch die Clusterbildung auf unserem Areal zu erwarten sind!“ erklärt Dr. Friedrich Hoepfner.
Im dem fünfgeschossigen Neubau mit einer Nutzfläche von über 12800 qm bezieht HQS Quantum Simulations im 3. Stock eine Bürofläche von knapp 800 qm.
„Unser Start-up wächst nun aus den Kinderschuhen raus. Wir haben vor in Zukunft weiterhin in qualifizierte Wissenschaftler und Entwicklerinnen zu investieren, wodurch wir mehr Arbeitsplätze zur Verfügung stellen müssen. Da wir unserem Team die Möglichkeit bieten auch viel und flexibel von zu Hause zu arbeiten, wollen wir mit dem neuen Büro vor allem einen Raum zu Begegnung, Diskussionen und Austausch schaffen. Auf dem Weg Quantencomputer zur industriellen Anwendung zu bringen haben wir in der Vergangenheit schon große Fortschritte gemacht, stehen aber weiterhin vor vielen komplexen Fragestellungen, die wir nur im Team lösen können.“ Sagt COO Dr. Iris Schwenk.
Seit der Gründung von HQS befinden sich die Büroräume des Unternehmens in der Karlsruher Oststadt. Das hochinnovative Umfeld bietet neben der zentrumsnahen Lage auch ökonomisch viele Vorteile wie beispielsweise die Nähe zu den Forschungseinrichtungen von KIT, Hochschule, Fraunhofer und FZI sowie dem CyberForum e.V.. In der Gründungsphase nutze das Unternehmen Räume des Cyberlab, dem Startup Accelerator des Cyberforums. Nachfolgend war die Technologiefabrik Karlsruhe bis heute der ideale Standort zur Weiterentwicklung des Start-ups und bot durch die Infrastruktur viele Annehmlichkeiten und Möglichkeiten. Im iWerkx in direkter Nachbarschaft zum derzeitigen Standort wird HQS auch in Zukunft im attraktiven Umfeld der Karlsruher Oststadt beheimatet sein. Die großzügige und moderne Gestaltung bietet viel Raum für die weitere Entwicklung des Unternehmens.
Noch sind die abschließenden Baumaßnahmen und die Vorbereitungen für den Umzug in vollem Gange. Nach dem jetzigen Stand ist der Umzug jedoch schon Anfang des nächsten Jahres geplant.
